Day Trader Skills #2: Open – Testing Yesterday’s OHLC Magnets
  1. Concept
  2. Examples:
  3. Open: Yesterday Magnet – 2nd attempt BO of YD H
  4. Open: Yesterday Magnet – 2nd attempt Failed BO of YD H
  5. Open: Yesterday Magnet 2nd attempt BO of YD L
  6. Open: Yesterday Magnet 2nd attempt Failed BO of YD L

Concept

A common pattern on the open is a reaction to the OHLC of yesterday’s price action.

In particular, the High(H) and Low (L).

This is not a surprise considering every bar on the chart is testing the H and L of the bars before it.

The market will often attempt something twice – see 2 attempts – and then do the opposite.

This helps find an opening swing trade.

Examples:

  • 2nd attempt BO of YD H
  • 2nd attempt Failed BO of YD H
  • 2nd attempt BO of YD L
  • 2nd attempt Failed BO of YD L

Open: Yesterday Magnet – 2nd attempt BO of YD H

Open: Yesterday Magnet – 2nd attempt Failed BO of YD H

Open: Yesterday Magnet 2nd attempt BO of YD L

Open: Yesterday Magnet 2nd attempt Failed BO of YD L
